Future Fundraising Events

St Colman's has been very lucky to have acquired land next to the school from Bishop Smith. We hope to develop the land to provide a sports pitch for the benefit of the entire school. As you can imagine, there will be a significant cost involved in this development. Over the next two years, the St Colman's Parents Association will be organising a number of fundraising events and all support will be greatly appreciated. Yesterday's 5K Family Fun Run/Walk was the first of these funraisers and was a huge success. We extend our deepest gratitude to families and businesses who supported this event.

5k Family Fun Run/Walk

Students, staff, family and friends of St Colman's turned out in their droves today for the annual St Colman's 5k Family Fun Run/Walk. All ages took part, from the very young in prams to the not so young and everything in between - even a few family pets! Registration was at the school and the race began just outside the gates of Shamrocks G.F.C. grounds. The  newly retired Mr G was there to announce the start of the race. The serious runners were up at the front and everyone else followed at their own pace. There was a tremendous atmosphere and the glorious sunshine just added to the occasion. Afterwards refreshments were available at the school and many took the opportunity to relax and recharge while chatting to friends. This was a very enjoyable fundraiser for the school organised by the St Colman's N.S. Parents Association. Thanks to everyone who helped out in any way. A fitting end to our 'Active School Week', a great success and one we hope to repeat again next year.

5K Family Fun Run/Walk

The annual St Colman's 5K Family Run/Walk took place today. We thought the rain this morning may turn people off but we were wrong! Once again, we were delighted to have such a wonderful turnout. Of course many of you got some practice in over the past few weeks at our weekly W.O.W. event. All ages took part from the very young in prams, to the not so young and everyone in between - there were even a few family pets! Mrs Skittles was keeping everyone's spirits up at the starting line and playing some music for the warm up. Afterwards, many returned to the school for refreshments and a chance to chat with friends. The fundraiser was organised by the St Colman's N.S. Parents Association. Thanks to everyone who helped in any way and of course to those who braved the weather to take part. A fitting end to our 'Active School Week', a great success and one we hope to repeat again next year.

Easter Draw

The excitement was palpable in the school this morning as everyone waited for 11am when the Easter Draw would take place. A selection of pupils, staff and Parent's Council representatives gathered in the school hall to watch Mrs Garvey get the draw underway. Using the intercom, to allow everyone in the school hear the procedings, Mrs Garvey began by sincerely thanking everyone for making this Easter draw such a resounding success. A special word of thanks was given to Mr Kevin Whelan, father of Peter in fifth class, who donated an iPad as a sellers prize and an extra incentive for the children to sell as many cards as possible. Mrs Garvey then called all the children who sold three or more full cards to the hall to collect a well deserved reward. Mrs Garvey also acknowledged the huge effort put in by our caretaker Mr Kevin Mc Loughlin who sold a staggering fifteen cards. She then started the draw by asking Kevin to pull the first winner out of the drum.
