St Brigid's well is located on the outskirts of Mullingar. Last Thursday, the 1st of February, we celebrated St Brigid's Day by visiting the well. We walked along the canal in order to reach the well. It took us 45 minutes to walk the 3km to the well. When we got there, we blessed ourselves with the water from the well. We explored the altar, the mound and the stones that dotted the circular walk. Then we had a picnic before we began our walk back to school. In school, we made St Brigid's Crosses using rushes. Tradition says that having a St Brigid's cross hanging in your house will keep you safe.
