After learning all about the Irish famine, 5th Class went on a walk to the Famine Graveyard in Mullingar. This graveyard contains the marked and unmarked graves of victims of the Great Famine (1845-9) and is a reminder of this sad event in Irish history. In 2017 there was a plaque place on the grounds on the famine graveyard to remember those that are buried on the grounds. While in the graveyard, the children also took part in a decade of The Rosary, led by Mrs.Connaughton.
