Fair play to St. Colman's
We held our spectacular Christmas Fair on Sunday, attracting hundreds of patrons from the school community for this annual fundraiser.
The school corridors, hall and classrooms were thronged as children, their parents and extended families and friends sampled the many wares, each visitor adding another spark of magic to the special occasion.
Alongside current students and their families were past pupils, past principals and all manner of much-loved past traditions. We had Santa in his grotto, meeting and chatting to children. We had a 'green room' offering high quality Christmas photo opportunities. Home-baking and crafts were for sale in the school hall. Children availed of popcorn and ice-cream, while there were also pancakes and spring rolls and a coffee van. Pelting the Elves was, of course, a big hit with the children, who also bought Christmas crackers, hoping to win some coveted homework passes, and queued to avail of face-painting by some talented parents.
Mr. Beehan would like to thank the large team of people who worked very hard behind the scenes to make the event happen.
“Our fantastic Parents' Association always pull out all the stops to make this Christmas Fair the success that it is. The school staff also give up their free time year after year and it is much appreciated. Thank you to all our families and local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle and delicious baked goods for our cake sale, and to all of the school community who came along to support it”, he said.
