Electricity circuits

22nd Jan 2025
Mrs. Gilligan's 6th class were learning about electricity this week. We made simple circuits in pairs, using batteries, wires and light bulbs. Afterwards we added a variety of materials to our circuits to investigate good conductors of electricity. Good conductors of electricity allow electricity to pass through them easily.
It was easy to identify conductors and insulators of electricity because our lightbulb would still light up when we used materials such as; aluminium, copper, silver, steel and brass (conductors).
However materials such as rubber, paper, wood and plastic (insulators) stopped the flow of electricity in our circuits, therefore our lightbulbs didn't light up.
The boys and girls had great fun investigating materials around the classroom that could/couldn't conduct electricity.
