C.O.W.!

Today, instead of having our usual W.O.W. (Walk on Wednesday) event, we had a C.O.W. (Cycle on Wednesday) to coincide with 'National Cycle on Wednesday' Day 2016. Students from St Colman's met at the cinema in Lakepoint, kitted out in their hi-vis vests and helmets. They cycled in convoy to the school grounds accompanied by parents, staff and members of Westmeath Sports Partnership. A great welcome awaited our young cyclists as students and staff lined the driveway to cheer them on. As the weather stayed fine, the boys and girls then cycled along the canal line before returning to school to begin their studies for the day. Well done to everyone who took part. You were helping Green Schools Ireland achieve the target of 5,000 people cycling to school today.

Bike to School Day

As part of National Bike Week, schools around the country were asked to cycle to school today. Children from St Colman's met at the cinema in Lakepoint at 8.30am and travelled in convoy to the school accompanied by members of the Gardaí, Community Wardens and school staff. It was great to see so many children take part in this event. As a 'Green School' we encourage everyone to get out on their bike to not only keep fit but also help the environment.
